Bringing your new kitten home is always such an adventure:) I’d like to share a few things that we use/do in our cattery to help you and your fluffy friend get started💕
Choosing a great food brand for your growing kitten is very important. At this stage they’re developing so you want to give them food that will help them be as healthy and strong as possible. There are some really great brands out there like: Royal Canin, Blue, Nulo, Instinct, Hill’s, Wellness, and Nutro. Choose a kitten food that meets your budget, but will also benefit your new kitten. We give our growing kittens Hill’s Science Diet or Purina One +Plus.
For a growing kitten, a wet food diet is very important. It’s recommended to give kittens more wet than dry food up until the age of 1. Kittens can be picky when it comes to food so buy a few different types of kitten wet foods and see which brand they’ll like. There are pates, shredded, and cut versions of wet food so your kitten is bound to find something they’ll like. We give our kittens Tiny Tiger Pate. We order it off of Chewy.
It’s a great idea to have probiotics on hand for your growing kitten. When you adopt a kitten and switch up their food, this can cause an upset stomach. The powder can be added into their wet food and can help with stomach upsets that result in messy poops. We order this probiotic powder off of Amazon and give it to our cats and kittens every once in a while or when we see a digestive issue.
Kittens and cats can benefit from having L-Lysine added to their diet. It helps support their immune system. We give this to our cats and kittens. It works best when you mix it into their wet food. We like this powdered L-Lysine and order it off of Amazon.
All of our cats and kittens use the breeze litter box. We did change some things up so check out the attached link for more info on our litter box system. Instead of the pellets provided we use pine pellets from tractor supply. It’s more affordable and a safer option for the cats and kittens.
Persian cats have gorgeous coats which require daily attention. You can purchase a steel comb like this on Amazon or EBay. The best recommendation is to brush your furry felines daily to keep their coats from matting. There are lots of different combs and brushes out there so choose one that works for your kitty and for you.
Want to keep your furry feline smelling fresh without giving them a bath every time? There is this super neat product called pet cologne by Bodhi Dog! You can find it on Amazon and it comes in different scents and 3 different sizes. It makes the kitties smell extra great.
