Bringing your new kitten home is always such an adventure:) I’d like to share a few things that we use/do in our cattery to help you and your fluffy friend get started💕
Choosing a great food brand for your growing kitten is very important. At this stage they’re developing so you want to give them food that will help them be as healthy and strong as possible. There are some really great brands out there like: Royal Canin, Blue, Nulo, Instinct, Hill’s, Wellness, and Nutro. Choose a kitten food that meets your budget, but will also benefit your new kitten. I really like Royal Canin, Blue Wilderness, and Hill’s. We have tried these with the cats and kittens and they enjoy them. Remember to buy a small bag first to see if your new kitten will approve.
For a growing kitten, a wet food diet is very important. It’s recommended to give kittens more wet than dry food up until the age of 1. Kittens can be picky when it comes to food so buy a few different types of kitten wet foods and see which brand they’ll like. There are pates, shredded, and cut versions of wet food so your kitten is bound to find something they’ll like. I like brands such as Royal Canin, Authority, and Hills science diet. I start the kittens on a pate as it is easier for them to eat. Once their digestive systems have adjusted, it’s a good idea to try different wet foods that offer variety to their diet. Always remember to slowly introduce new foods to a kitten’s diet.
All of our cats and kittens use the breeze litter box. We did change some things up so check out the attached link for on more info on our litter box system. Instead of the pellets provided we use pine pellets from tractor supply. It’s more affordable and a safer option for the cats and kittens.
Persian cats have gorgeous coats which require daily attention. You can purchase a steel comb like this on Amazon or EBay. The best recommendation is to brush your furry felines daily to keep their coats from matting. There are lots of different combs and brushes out there so choose one that works for your kitty and for you.
